You're as Free as You Decide to Be

Sometimes I think about, how many of us are putting on a show for other people?

Feeling as if we can only be or only do certain things in life because it's what's expected of us.

I've definitely been there. Acting with a facade or a mask to try to distract others from the different things happening inside me.

In my "Our Identity as Our Trajectory" Action Step, I wrote how your identity is not merely just your personality and who you are right now, but also encompasses the qualities, beliefs, and self image that you assign to yourself. The kind of person that you tell yourself to be, conscious or unconscious, all influence the trajectory of your life.

Almost all of these aspects (qualities, beliefs, self image, personality etc) start in the mind. Moreover, the more I thought through this action step and how our identity is so foundational to our lives, I realize that we are as free as we believe ourselves to be.

I'll say it one more time: We are as free as we believe ourselves to be.

We are free to be the people we want to be, to live out the dreams we have held so close, to work, associate, and be with the people who truly care about us and want to see our dreams become a reality.

In our lives, so many of the things we repress or dismiss or reject or hesitate about, we only react this way because we believe they could never be.

But remember, you're as free as you decide to be.
